The Umpqua Kennel Club...
the test consists of 10 common things which every dog should know. Dogs do not have to be purebred or registered.
Where: at its training facility on Old 99N in Roseburg (next to the Wilbur Auction).
When: 1:00-2:30 on Saturdays, March 4, 11, and 18 for review and preparation; the test will be on Saturday, March 25 starting at 1:00.
Why: because insurance companies, homeowners' and tenants' associations, landlords, etc., are increasingly requiring that resident dogs are well-behaved and not destructive or dangerous.
Enrollment is limited to 5 dogs (a 2nd session will be scheduled if there is enough interest). Experienced Club members will be on hand during the practice/review sessions to help you be successful. AKC-approved evaluators will conduct the test on the final day.
Every dog which passes will receive a document which can be presented to insurance companies, landlords, etc., certifying that he is a Canine Good Citizen.
CGC is an official AKC title so those with registered dogs (including "All-American" dogs) can request one from AKC.
The cost of the 4-week session is $35. Proceeds go to support the DC Sheriff's & Police K-9 Association.
